Chad Adair began his artistic career in 1992 after graduating from Western Carolina University with a BFA in Painting/Photography. As a successful studio painter Chad had several gallery exhibitions in the south, including a solo exhibition in 1993 at Belk Gallery and Blue spiral Gallery in 1994 in Asheville NC. His mixed media works are predominantly oil on canvas or wood, with multi-layers of found objects, found imagery, and original photography. Chad also began touring with a grunge rock group called Strobelight Cockfight as visual director providing lighting and background visuals for the band. Equipped with multiple VCRs, Chad used the old school method of hard cutting looping his source material into video montages that were powerful and disturbing. His love affair with motion picture manipulation had begun.

In 1995 he was accepted into the MFA program in the Motion Picture and Video Department at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Chad plunged into the underground music scene and sub-culture in San Francisco, and started a visual effects company called Eyetribe that provided film loops, live video mixing and large scale projections and video installations for live events, raves, festivals and gallery exhibits. Eyetribe was an integral part of the early electronic music scene from 1996 to 1999, serving up original video shows for big named DJs and bands.

Chad has shown video works at Artist Television Access (ATA), CELLspace, 111 Minna, 1015 Folsom, the Church of John Coltrane, San Francisco Computer Museums COMA festival 1997, and Omnimedia Tour 1998. Chad also worked with OBIE award winner, playwright Remy Charlip, and the multimedia theater group of George Coates.

After graduating from the Academy of Art in 2000, Chad and his family moved to Los Angles, where he found his niche as Director of Video Production for a large entertainment website, Vidnet.com. Chad shot live concerts video for megastars Moby, Madonna, 2 Live Crew and stunts performed by Tony Hawk and Matt Hoffman.  As a freelance Video Director, Chad has worked with the top music industry talent like TOOL, David Lee Roth, Sparklehorse, Every Move a Picture and Velvet Revolver.

In his spare time Chad enjoys making custom furniture, painting and trail running with his greyhound.
